Now, what is workers’ compensation? It is insurance that covers the business of employees expenses due to on-the-job injuries and/or illnesses.
It can include compensation of loss wages, reimbursement or payments of medical expenses, benefits payable to dependent due to death of workers on the job. It does not, however, cover damages for pain and suffering, or punitive damages for employer negligence.
Although almost all states mandate laws that require businesses who have employees to have workers’ compensation, it could generally save the employer from getting sued or paying the large cost of medical expenses, isn’t that nice?
